The Canada China Forum is thrilled to invite both members and non-members to join the exclusive Masterclass Series for the third installment! The Masterclass Series is an engaging and comprehensive program designed to offer emerging young leaders a deep and multifaceted strategic understanding of China’s culture, history, economy, and society, and an overview of the complexities shaping Canada – China relations.
This series of masterclasses aims to provide a unique and immersive learning experience, equipping individuals with valuable insights and knowledge in transforming the next generation of Canadian leaders to be China-competent and globally-minded. Whether you are a business professional, academic, policymaker or simply a curious young leader, this program will broaden your horizons and enrich your understanding of a ‘global China’ and the implications on Canada and the world.
Program Overview
The Masterclass Series is a three month-long initiative offering a deep dive into China’s economic, political and social structures, including key issues shaping China and the bilateral relationship.
This year, masterclasses will cover a wide range of topics, including:
- Politics, Norms, and Governance in the Party-State under Xi Jinping (Sept 9)
- Chinese Contemporary Cinema & Nationalism: Between Modernity and Nostalgia (Oct 6)

Session Format
The Masterclass Series will be conducted virtually for an hour designed to accommodate participants and speakers from Canada and abroad. Each session will include a structured 20-30 minute presentation on the featured topic, followed by a discussion and Q&A, allowing participants to engage directly with the speaker(s). The series will also provide post-event networking opportunities, fostering meaningful connections among global professionals and leaders. Importantly, the sessions will be held under Chatham House Rules, ensuring confidentiality and the free exchange of ideas.
